《应用英文》西方的金句佳言
英(美)语里有许多金句佳言(如saying, quotation等),一些是来自思想家、政治家、作家等的名言,也有许多是由历代流传下的谚语、俗语或常言(如proverb, slang等)。
这些至理名言,在句子结构和意义上也非十全十美,但人们常作为生活上的「指引」,并常用在谈话和写作,以增生色 (如「常言道」或「正如俗语所说」...As the saying goes....)。
不过,直接引用金句佳言时,通常保持原来句型。本文为了解释「方便」起见,另加一些句子而已,并在句后尽量注明金句佳言的来源。
品德方面﹕
He who receives a good turn should never forget it; he who does one should never remember it.(美国俗语)
接受善事的人,不可忘记;做了善事的人,不要记得。
也就是﹕假如有人帮助你,不要忘记,假如你帮助别人,就要忘记。
