想學好英文，就要學會他們慣用的「開頭語」。

碰到「變化」時
What happened to…?/ 發生什麼事情了？
受到別人關心時，應該沒有人會不開心吧？所以請觀察跟你談話的對象，發現對方可能發生什麼事情時，不妨試著提起看看。此外也可以聊聊周遭環境的變化。
這時只要將你在意的或發生變化的事情，接在What happened to後面即可。如此一來就可以積極表現出想交流的態度，以「展開會話」的角度來說絕對是滿分表現。
假設對方的腳打上石膏，看起來很痛時，就可以問What happened to your leg?（你的腳怎麼了？）；聽說對方與女朋友吵架了，可以問What happened to you and your girlfriend?（你和女朋友之間發生什麼事情了？）。
好天氣跑哪兒去了呢？
➡➡What happened to the nice weather?
誰知道呢？昨天明明那麼晴朗，今天竟然下雨了。
➡➡I have no idea. It was clear yesterday, but it’s raining today.
約翰發生什麼事情了？最近都沒看到他進辦公室。
➡➡What happened to John? I haven’t seen him in the office lately.
我聽說他調到其他部門了。
➡➡I heard he moved to a different section.
我點的沙拉怎麼還沒來？
➡➡What happened to the salad I ordered?
非常抱歉，我立刻為您上菜。
➡➡I’m terribly sorry. I’ll bring it right away.
你的手怎麼了？
➡➡What happened to your arm?
我從樓梯上跌下來，結果手腕受傷了。
➡➡I fell down the stairs and hurt my wrist.
你肚子餓了嗎？午餐吃什麼？
➡➡You’re hungry? What happened to your lunch?
我剛吃飽，不過還是很餓。
➡➡I already ate it, but I’m still hungry.
我桌上的文件跑到哪裡去了呢？
➡➡What happened to the papers that were on my desk?
我收進文件櫃了。
➡➡I put them in the filing cabinet.
