一條未走的路

深黃的林子裡有兩條岔開的路,
很遺憾,我,一個過路人,
沒法同時踏上兩條征途,
佇立好久,我向一條路遠遠望去,
直到它打彎,視線被灌木叢擋住。

於是我選了另一條,不比那條差,
也許我還能說出更好的理由,
因為它綠草茸茸,等待人去踐踏——
其實講到留下了來往的足跡,
兩條路,說不上差別有多大。

那天早晨,有兩條路,相差無幾,
都埋在還沒被踩過的落葉底下。
啊,我把那第一條路留給另一天!
可我知道,一條路又接上另一條,
將來能否重回舊地,這就難言。

隔了多少歲月,流逝了多少時光,
我將嘆一口氣,提起當年的舊事:
林子裡有兩條路,朝著兩個方向,
而我——我走上一條更少人跡的路,
於是帶來完全不同的一番景象。

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrown.
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should even come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,

《一條未走的路》是一首哲理抒情詩,看似傾訴個人經歷,實則表達人們的共同感受:人時時面臨選擇,而不同的選擇就會有不同的結果。

生活中,也許我們總是處於「魚與熊掌」的兩難選擇中,但實際上,當我們想到任何一個選擇之後,都要為之去擔當,或喜悲,或甜苦,或福禍……也許我們的選擇會更容易一些,會更清醒一些,會更決絕一些。
