I grew up hearing stories on an old TV screen

They said America was a giant losing faith inside a dream

They spoke of endless conflicts, of greed and broken trust

A nation built on power, a kingdom built on dust

I watched classmates disappear, bound for California

Or places I couldn't pronounce back when I was young

And I kept asking softly a question no one likes:

"If the house is really burning, why is everyone running inside?"

America
美国

I've never seen your mountains, I've never seen your plains

But your name still travels farther than power ever could

For those denied their freedom, for those still seeking hope

For those searching for a future they cannot find at home

America, maybe that's why the world still calls your name

Years turned into decades, my hair began to gray

The answers weren't in headlines, they found me anyway

I found them in a sentence written long ago

That "all men are created equal"

Simple words powerful enough to frighten tyrants still today

For 250 years you carried more than your own dreams

You've carried the hopes of strangers you'll never know me

They look westward toward a distant light

The land of the free and the home of the brave

Not because you're perfect, not because you're stronger

But because you remind the world what free people can become

Now I understand why we call you beautiful, prosperous, strong

America
美国

May you remain beautiful

May you stay strong

From a man who has never seen your shores

Yet still believes in what you mean
