美國電視史上首部取材台灣移民故事的情境喜劇「菜鳥新移民」將在第6季結束之後全劇終。消息一出，女主角吳恬敏的反應又成焦點。

「菜鳥新移民」（Fresh Off the Boat）2015年在美國廣播公司（ABC）開播以來，現正播出第6季。美國媒體8日報導，消息證實，本劇第6季播完之後劃下句點，最後一集2020年2月21日播出。

台裔女演員吳恬敏因本劇「虎媽」角色打開知名度，主演電影「瘋狂亞洲富豪」（Crazy Rich Asians）、「舞孃騙很大」（Hustlers）。不過今年5月，「菜鳥新移民」宣告續拍第6季，吳恬敏發言引發小風波。

吳恬敏當時在推特上說：「我現在不開心，真的要哭了。」據報導，她因為這部電視劇，必須推掉另外一部電影的演出。

如今「菜鳥新移民」確定明年2月告終，儘管吳恬敏沒在推特上發表任何看法，但美國網友把握機會嘲諷，暗爽、偷笑的表情動畫紛紛湧上回應留言。

For six seasons, I got to play a man of many dimensions: a loving father and husband, a friend, a boss… I got to laugh, to cry, to sing, to dance, to be a real human being. And to think I got paid in actual money! 「菜鳥新移民」除了捧紅吳恬敏與男主角藍道爾朴（Randall Park），同時也在美國電視史上寫下紀錄，它是以亞裔美國人為題材的最長壽電視情境劇。在此之前是1994年韓裔演員趙牡丹主演的「美國女孩」（All-American Girl）。

「菜鳥新移民」故事來自台灣移民的第二代黃頤銘。讀法律的黃頤銘，因開設「包好吃」（Baohaus）刈包店與主持美食節目，在美國闖出一片天，2013年出版回憶錄，獲ABC青睞，改編成電視劇。

不過身為原著作者，黃頤銘在「菜鳥新移民」第一季播完後，在網路上發文切割，認為劇情發展背離事實，已不再看。他說原著想要呈現台灣人移民美國的經驗，但劇情已經離事實越來越遠，矯揉造作。
